To facilitate precise preparation of cables and conductors utilised in the photovoltaic sector Weidmüller now proudly offers the practical "multi-stripax PV", the multifunctional cutting and stripping tool. This precision tool speeds up the "cutting and stripping" process by making it possible to process a wide variety of solar cables from different manufacturers with just one tool – and without having to change blades. The unique mechanical construction of the "multi-stripax® PV" guarantees the repeatability of precision insulation stripping results. "multi-stripax® PV" is again setting the pace when it comes to processing cables and conductors.
Distinguishing characteristics of cables utilised in the photovoltaic/solar energy sector include very good UV, weather and temperature resistance. They have good notch and abrasion resistance properties, are free from halogens and flame retardant. Designed for longevity they are specifically fabricated and structured to meet the requirements demanded of photovoltaic applications over a long period of time. For example a strengthened outer sheathing is provided for some cable types to protect against mechanical influences. On the one hand a robust construction is necessary to ensure the PV system is able to function over many years, but on the other hand this presents a huge challenge in respect of precise cable preparation requirements. Weidmüller has taken a closer look at this problem and is now proud to present the new "multi-stripax® PV", a practical, multifunctional tool designed to precisely cut and strip the insulation of solar cables. Utilising the "multi-stripax® PV" eliminates the need to swap tools or change blades and enables the user to precisely process the solar cables of the following manufacturers: ELDRA, ELDSOLAR®; Huber+Suhner, RADOX® SOLAR; LAPPKABEL, Oelflex® SOLAR; Leoni, BETAflam® 125 flex SOLAR; NEXANS, ENERGYFLEX® / ENERGYFLEX Plus and ARISTONCAVI NSGAFöU.

The special inserts precisely remove the cable insulation of 2.5 mm2, 4 mm2 and 6 mm2 conductor cross-sections. The insulation stripping quality has been designed to meet the demanding requirements of industrial applications. Precise insulation stripping lengths from 2.3 mm – 30 mm is made possible by a length stop, adjustable in millimetre steps. The insulation stripping operation is simply repeated for applications requiring longer lengths of stripped insulation. The integrated cable cutter precisely cuts flexible core cables up to 6 mm2 and single-core cables up to 2.5 mm2.
